The Chinese version of Miguel Cervantes’s Don Quixote has been inducted into Spain’s Order of Arts and Letters because of Dong Yanshengs hard work and assistance in the project, the Latin American Herald Tribune reports.

The ceremony took place at the Spanish Embassy of Beijing and was praised by many guests. The translation was done impeccably and accurately, and is recognized as accurately portraying the image of Spain that Cervantes intended to depict…

The most notable translator who worked on the translation of Don Quixote was Dong Yansheng, who has also worked on the translations of other Cervantes novels, including Poesia y Teatro (Poetry and Theater). Dong was also awarded the Order of Isabella the Catholic by the Spanish government for his part in spreading Spanish culture. Apart from translating, Dong has been a distinguished reference for manuals in teaching Spanish. His work and dedication are honored in the Chinese Hispanic community.
