The boom in the Translation industry has now produced another successful miracle- the first dictionary to be published in Jewish Moroccan language. Published by Mordechai Hanoun, this dictionary has taken two years of effort and contains approximately 10,000 words, idioms, phrases, and sayings from the Jewish Arabic of Morocco and the Hebrew translations. It has been reported that Hanoun has told Arutz Sheva’s Hebrew journal that words and phrases from English, French, Hebrew and Italian were mixed into this unique language, along with ancient Akkadian and Ugaritic.

With translation doing waves globally with annual revenue of $15 billion, it’s now the turn of India to take the translation industry seriously. Though still in its infancy, it is believed that translation in India has the potential to generate about 500,000 jobs! With the IT boom still large in India, it is only natural that the translation industry has turned big here.
The major translation currently is software documentation being translated to various Indian and foreign languages including the German, Japanese, and French languages. This has also led to a range of specialized language training courses for various languages. Read more of this article »

Work seems to dictate our lives today. The mornings start with the sole goal of reaching the workplace on time and the evenings, most often than not result in stretching for work with some more of it spilling over the weekend. This leaves us with very little time to relax, enjoy ourselves or spend time with our family and friends leading to stress and frustration. That’s not all, it also has its own ill effects on our health, compelling us to run away from it all. It also leads to decrease in the interest in work and affects the performance.
This lack of concentration and enthusiasm can be cured by taking frequent breaks and slowing down a bit by doing one bit at a time. Yet in the current market scenario, slowing down is seen as being incompetent and inefficient. Read more of this article »

Another day dawns with yet another translation tool all set to translate at its best bagging a funding of 2 million EURO. The MOLTO project, coordinated by University of Gothenburg, Sweden, received the funding from the EU to develop a translation tool that covers most of the EU languages. It has been reported that all the citizens of Europe will now have the same access to the information on the internet.

Google Chrome will soon be available in your language!
Yes!! Though the extensions support has finally been enabled by default on all platforms, the development team has introduced internalization features that enable the developers to offer localized versions of their extensions. This feature however is available only in the development channel release and the latest beta version and only on Windows. It has been reported that, the lack of internationalization features was one of the things some developers complained about.

Toshiba presents another of its brainwave- a cell phone with instant voice translation!! Yet another revolutionary development in the world of technology and translation. An extremely handy feature for those blessed souls who get to travel across the globe- here is a cool new gizmo that helps you understand the basic sentences of a few of the countries that you travel to. The cell phone apparently, is equipped with a translation software that in its current iteration, enables phone to interpret between English, Chinese and Japanese. The company claims that the phone database contains up to 30,000 words in each of these languages. This was done by optimizing the existing PC software which has resulted in lesser processing power. Titled as TG01 “smartphone”, it’s a handy gizmo to get hold of.

Today, we are excited to announce a beta release of a new and improved version of online Translator Database developed by Translation Services USA!
Due to the strong growth during 2008-2009, we had constant shortages of qualified translators for some of the rare languages like Karen, Afrikaans, Dari and others. It was difficult to rely on third party websites such as proz.com or translatorscafe.com because they impose fees and create some operational hurdles. These websites supplied translators with very poor language and software skills which made reliance on them challenging and full of negative surprises.

It is now the turn of the Arabs to bask in appreciation as the whole world seems to be immersed in reading and singing the glory of literature from the Middle East region. With the London Book Fair featuring Arab World as its World Market Focus in 2008, the popularity of Arab literature grew leaps and bounds. Today they have big names like Harper Collins and Penguin publishing the translated versions of various best selling Arab novels.
