Sahitya Akademi awards – one of the most prestigious literature awards in India, awarded Mr J K Bargohain the award for best translation for the year 2009 for his ‘Lokayata Dearshan’, a translation from the original work in Bengali by Devi Prasad Chattopaddhay. This book was published by Publication board in Assam and is in Assamese.
