New law about testing items meant for children
There's been a move lately to pass a law in NY, where all products meant for children under a certain age (I believe 10 years old) will have to be tested by an outside source. This includes everything--books, clothing, toys, etc.--and will probably be quite costly, especially for very small business that sell things like homemade clothing and dolls. It may have even passed, I haven't heard yet. I understand that products need to be safe when they're meant for children, but I think that this law is taking things a little too far. It won't affect bigger corporations very much, but it could seriously harm a lot of smaller business, possibly even put them out of business entirely. And most households contain so many items that are dangerous for children that it isn't like this law is going to suddenly make children everywhere safe from harm.

I think a lot of people just need to keep a closer watch on their children.
