Translation Services USA$24.95 per page · 24-hour delivery · Accepted by USCIS
We translate marriage certificates into English and certify them for $24.95 per page. Most certificates are one page; some civil registry extracts run to two. Each translation comes with a signed certificate of accuracy that USCIS accepts, and most orders arrive as a PDF within 24 hours. If an office also wants a notarized copy, the notary in our New York office can add it the same day.

What we translate
The document goes by many names: acta de matrimonio, certidão de casamento, Heiratsurkunde, the pair of red booklets issued to Chinese couples, a nikah nama from a Muslim marriage registrar. They record the same facts, and we translate all of them in full.
That means both spouses' names, their dates and places of birth, the date and place of the marriage, parents' names where listed, witnesses, the officiant or registrar, the registration number, and every stamp and seal. If a later note records a divorce, a name change or a correction, we translate that as well. USCIS treats those notes as part of the record.
A religious certificate from a church, mosque or synagogue is translated the same way. Whether the office you are filing with will accept it is a separate question, covered further down this page.
Who asks for it
Couples filing with USCIS are the biggest group. The marriage certificate goes with the I-130 petition for a husband or wife and with the I-485 green card application. Two years later it goes in again with the I-751 petition to remove conditions on residence. The National Visa Center asks for it too when a spouse is processed at a consulate abroad.
Name changes come next. The Social Security Administration, state DMVs and the passport agency accept a marriage certificate as proof of a new last name, and they need it in English. Employers adding a spouse to health insurance, banks opening a joint account, and courts handling the divorce of a marriage registered abroad ask for the same translation.

How it works
Upload a scan or a phone photo of every page, including the back if anything is written or stamped there. We don't need the original.
Your account manager checks the page count and sends the total, usually within 15 minutes during office hours. You pay by card or PayPal.
Most documents of one to three pages arrive within 24 hours, with the signed certificate of accuracy attached. Notarized hard copies can be picked up or mailed.
Requirements
USCIS wants proof that the marriage is legally valid in the place where it happened. In most countries that proof is the civil registry certificate. A church or mosque certificate on its own works only where a religious marriage is legally registered without a separate civil step. The State Department's reciprocity schedule lists the accepted marriage document for each country.
A marriage license is not proof of marriage. It gives permission to marry, and USCIS will ask for the certificate issued after the ceremony.
The translation itself follows 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3): complete, in English, with the translator's signed statement of accuracy and competence. USCIS does not need a notary seal. Some foreign consulates and a few courts do ask for one, and we notarize the same day for $25. For the rest of a spouse-based filing, see translation for USCIS.
Real samples
These are real Translation Services USA certified translations, with names changed and a SAMPLE watermark. Yours arrives in the same format: the certificate of accuracy first, then the full English translation on our letterhead.

FAQ
The whole document, including the back and any notes added later. USCIS asks for a full translation, and a single untranslated stamp can lead to a request for evidence.
Only if a religious marriage in that country counts as a legal marriage without a civil registration. In most countries it doesn't, and USCIS wants the civil certificate. Check the State Department reciprocity schedule for your country, or send us both and we translate both.
Yes. Social Security, the DMV and the passport agency accept a certified translation of a foreign marriage certificate as proof of a new name, presented with the original. If each office wants to keep a copy, order extra certified copies for $10 each.
No. USCIS asks for the translator's signed certification, not a notary seal. If a consulate, a court or a bank asks for notarization, we add it for $25 per document, the same day.
Most marriage certificates are delivered as a certified PDF within 24 hours. If a USCIS deadline is close, same-day rush is $14.95 extra per page. Hard copies go out by USPS or FedEx once the PDF is approved.
