Certified Passport Translation

$24.95per page (up to 250 words), certificate of accuracy included

We translate foreign passports into English and certify them for $24.95 per page. Most people need only the photo page, which is one page. Visa pages and entry or exit stamps are translated on request, when you need to show where you were and when. The signed certificate of accuracy meets USCIS requirements, and most orders arrive as a PDF within 24 hours.

What we translate

Which passport pages we translate

The photo page is what most offices want. We translate the surname and given names exactly as printed, nationality, date and place of birth, sex, the issue and expiry dates, the passport number and the issuing authority. Patronymics, second surnames and transliterated spellings stay as they appear, because the translation has to match your other documents letter for letter.

The machine-readable zone, the two lines of letters and chevrons along the bottom, stays as it is. It is already in Latin characters.

Other pages are translated when you ask: visa stamps, residence permits glued into the passport, entry and exit stamps, and handwritten endorsements such as a name change or a child entered in a parent's passport. Send every page you plan to submit and we count them before you pay.

Who asks for it

When a passport translation is needed

International rules require the photo page to show the holder's name in Latin letters and to label its fields in English, French or Spanish. Because of that, many offices accept the photo page as it is. A translation is still needed when the office asks for one, when the labels are only in French or Spanish, or when you are submitting stamps, visas and endorsements written in the national language. Ask before you order; it may save you the cost.

USCIS uses passport pages as proof of identity and of lawful entry, for example with the I-485, the I-765 work permit application and the I-131 travel document. Entry and exit stamps matter in cases that turn on dates, such as continuous residence for naturalization. DMVs, banks, county clerks issuing marriage licenses and schools also ask for a translated passport when they can't read it.

Requirements

Getting the names right

Name spelling causes more trouble than anything else in a passport translation. Your birth certificate, marriage certificate and passport translations must spell your name the same way, or an officer may ask whether they belong to the same person. We copy the Latin-letter spelling printed in your passport and use that spelling on every other document in your order.

If a field shows your name only in another script, we transliterate it to match the passport's Latin line. Tell us when you order if any of your other documents use a different spelling. We note both instead of quietly picking one.

The translation follows 8 CFR 103.2(b)(3): complete for the pages you submit, with the translator's signed certificate of accuracy. USCIS doesn't require notarization. A DMV or a bank occasionally does, and we notarize for $25 the same day.

FAQ

Questions about this translation

Do I need to translate every page of my passport?

No. Translate the pages you are submitting. For most offices that is the photo page. If your case depends on travel dates, add the pages with the relevant entry and exit stamps or visas.

My passport is expired. Can you still translate it?

Yes. Expired passports are often used to prove identity or past entries, and the translation works the same way.

Is a phone photo of the passport good enough?

Yes, if all four corners of the page are visible and the text is sharp. Lay the passport flat, shoot in daylight, and avoid flash glare on the laminate.

My name is spelled differently on my other documents. What happens?

We follow the passport spelling. If you tell us the other spelling, we note it in brackets so the officer sees both. We never change a name to match another document on our own.

Can you translate a US passport into another language?

Yes, at the same $24.95 per page, for example for a marriage registration or a residence application abroad.
